WEBSTER, MA – October 10, 2025 — The Webster Water Ski Collective is proud to announce Barbara Greene as the recipient of the 2025 Legacy Award, recognizing a lifetime of dedication, leadership, and passion for water skiing and the Webster Lake community.

Barbara’s journey on the water began in 1954, as one of the original water skiers in Webster. A lifelong resident of Webster Lake, Barbara quickly became a fixture in the early ski shows, performing in pyramids, doubles, and solo acts with grace, strength, and showmanship that would set the tone for generations of skiers to come.

In the early 1990s, Barbara played a key role in reviving the Ski Club in Webster, inspiring a resurgence of organized skiing on the lake. She served as the longtime show director and board member throughout the 1990s and 2000s, shaping the club’s identity and leading with unmatched energy and enthusiasm.

Barbara is also the proud matriarch of the Greene family legacy in skiing, the first three-generation family associated with the ski club. Her son Robbie, and grandchildren Randy and Chelsea, are all standout skiers who continue to embody the passion Barbara sparked so many years ago. Through them, Barbara’s love of the sport and community continues to ripple outward.

Even after stepping back from active skiing, Barbara remained ever-present—cheering from the dock, spotting from the boat, offering tips as an instructor, or simply being the club’s beloved “dock mom.” Her smile, her stories, and her deep knowledge of the lake made her a treasured presence. “Barbara knew everyone, and everyone knew Barbara,” recalls a fellow club member.

A local historian and storyteller, Barbara also maintains a mini ski museum at her home on Union Point, filled with vintage skis and memorabilia from the sport’s earliest days on Webster Lake. Each piece in her collection tells a story, and Barbara shares those tales with joy and pride.

Today, you can still spot her cruising the lake she loves—boating, swimming, or even jet skiing with her grandkids. Her connection to Webster Lake and the skiing community is timeless.

“Barbara’s legacy is woven into the very fabric of our club,” said the Collective’s leadership. “This award honors not only her historic contributions but the love and family spirit she has shared with us all.”

The 2025 Legacy Award will be officially presented at the Webster Water Ski Collective’s Annual Banquet on Friday, October 17th, at Point Breeze in Webster, Massachusetts. All members, friends, and supporters of the club are invited to attend and celebrate Barbara’s remarkable contributions.
