Webster, MA — December 29, 2025 — The Webster Water Ski Collective (WWSC), a nonprofit dedicated to making water skiing accessible to people of all ages and abilities, is proud to announce it has been awarded a grant from the Massachusetts Office of Outdoor Recreation’s (MOOR) Inclusive and Accessible Outdoor Recreation Grant Program for 2026. This funding initiative, part of a statewide effort to support inclusive outdoor recreation opportunities, is designed to help organizations break down barriers to outdoor participation and expand access to historically underserved communities. 

The MOOR grant will support WWSC’s Adaptive Water Ski Program throughout the 2026 season, extending opportunities for individuals of all abilities — including those with disabilities, their families, and community members — to learn and enjoy water skiing across Massachusetts and the greater New England region.

“Receiving this grant is a tremendous honor and an important milestone for our organization,” said Ryan DesRoches, Director of Adaptive Skiing at Webster Water Ski Collective. “This funding will continue to allow us to grow our Adaptive Water Ski Program in 2026, providing meaningful, inclusive recreation experiences for learners of all ages and abilities. We’re especially excited to reach more communities and continue building a welcoming environment on the water.”

In addition to program expansion, the WWSC has set a key goal for the upcoming season to give back to its host sites by improving year‑round accessibility at local public beaches, lakes, and ponds. With a portion of the grant, WWSC will invest in purchasing and maintaining portable access mats that can be stationed at select waterfront locations throughout the summer. These mats will facilitate easier entry and movement across sandy and uneven terrain, making municipal waterfronts more accessible for people using wheelchairs, mobility devices, or those with limited mobility.

“Part of our mission is strengthening connections between people and the outdoors,” added DesRoches. “By installing accessible access mats at key sites, we hope not only to enhance our own programming but also to leave a lasting accessibility legacy for all visitors to enjoy year‑round.”

The MOOR Inclusive and Accessible Outdoor Recreation Grant Program was established to encourage outdoor recreation initiatives that engage new and diverse audiences, promote environmental equity, and expand physical access to outdoor activities and spaces.   For more information, see the official release by the Massachusetts Office of Outdoor Recreation here.
